I am thankful for......

1. Our LIFE group

2. My healthy family

3. That Easton ate a sandwich yesterday. (This is a HUGE deal for my very picky eater! He only gagged twice while eating it. ha.)

4. All of our opportunities in the U.S. (After hearing several people talk about their mission trip experiences, it really makes me realize how blessed we are to have clothes on our back, food on our plate, and our health.)

5. Our good friend and accountant who helps us survive tax season.

6. Internet

7. Taco Casa (It is cheap and ohhhhh so good!)

8. Wonderful school teachers and Bible class teachers for my kiddos. (I guess I could go on an on....and grandparents, and friends, and anyone who helps teach my kids)

9. My 84 year old grandfather who still comes into my office every morning and tells me some awesome stories about his time inthe navy, my family, and many other treasured things. No matter what I am working on, I realize that I can never be too busy for what he has to say.

10. My brother who is a WONDERFUL uncle and who is single and looking for a good, Christian wife. (I hope that Shane does not read todays post. ha!)

Heimlich maneuver

Well....I just had one of the scariest moments of my life. I just had to do the Heimlich on Lexi. She got choked on chips and she was so choked that she was making no noise at all. She just had a very scary look on her face. I was so scared and didn't even know if I was doing the Heimlich correctly, but I guess God was watching over us because she threw up all over the place. She was crying because it scared her to death. After I got her and me all cleaned up she said " OOOH...YUCK!" What a scary moment!

My list may seems a little shallow today, but I am posting from work and don't have much time to type. However, I am thankful for many things and I have so many blessings to be thankful for. Crazy Lexi Story and Ten Things Thursday

Well, I am still a little mortified since our little outing to Wal Mart this morning. I am staying home with the kiddos today because they are on Spring Break. Easton decided that he wanted to go get some Easter cards to send to his friends, so off we went to Wal Mart. I did not think that it would be too bad since all we needed was chicken and Easter cards.I thought that surely I could handle a short Wal Mart trip. Wrong! Lexi decided that she wanted out of the basket to walk with Easton. I told Easton to hold her hand and she was doing really well. When we went to check out (After putting all of the candy back up that she was grabbing) I was paying out and all of a sudden Lexi sees an opportunity to take off. She ran straight into the women's bathroom and Easton did not want to go into the women's bathroom to get her. I just left her there while I checked out since I knew that I would see her if she came out. I went to get her and then realized that Easton had an Easter card in his hand that we forgot to pay for. Sooooo...off we go again to check out. Ater putting the candy back one more time I started to check out and Lexi sees the opportunity again to take off. And I mean she really took off....Sprinting! I left my purse and everything at the checkout counter and took off chasing her across Wal Mart. Easton was laughing hysterically and I was mortified and very upset with a little 2 year old. All that I could think of was when I got my hands on her I was going to bust her butt. I guess she knew I was upset so she ran and hid behind a very large trash can and knocked the whole thing over. It was SO LOUD and everyone in the store was watching our little adventure. Needless to say, I couldn't spank her because all eyes were on me at this time and I was afraid that someone would turn me into CPS. I grabbed her and then went to finish checking out. My credit card was still laying up on the counter. The lady at the checkout was laughing so hard and I was not laughing at all. I was sooo embarrassed. I never had to deal with anything like this with Easton so it is very new for me trying to discipline a strong willed child. Any helpful info would be great. Yes- Mom...I know that you said I was exactly the same way, but I still refuse to believe it. :)

On another note, my friend Jennifer Green has introduced me to a blog called Mrs. Brownstone and X-Box wife. Actually you are supposed to list 10 things that you are thankful for on your blog every Tuesday. I know that it is Thursday, but since I missed it on Tuesday and after my "venting" above I thought I better end on a positive note. Sooo....Mrs.Brownstone...I do not know you, but I am thankful for you for starting this carnival and I can certainly relate to the X Box wife thing. Actually, I think I am more of an X BOX mom. :) Here we go...........

1. I am thankful for this beautiful day! Wow! I am sitting here with my windows open and it is absolutely gorgeous outside!
2. I am thankful that my house is clean and that we got shelves built in our closets to organize.
3. I am thankful that my kids had the desire to want to "help" clean. Even though I cleaned up more than I would have otherwise after their help, I hope that they are learning some good values.
4. I am thankful that I am sitting here in peace and quiet (minus the Tom and Jerry) while one kid is sleeping and the other is resting and watching cartoons.
5. I am thankful that I get to stay home with the kids today and that we get to play, clean, and go see the Dr. Seuss movie.
6. I am thankful that our preacher asked Easton to read a scripture last night at church. How awesome that our preacher sees the desire to instill leadership skills in our young kiddos- even at 5 years.
7. I am thankful for my parents and in laws who are always willing to help out with the kids when Troy and I have crazy work schedules.
8. I am thankful for our health! After spending 8 days in the hospital in November, I REALLY count my blessing and realize how we never need to take our health for granted. I am also thankful that Easton's asthma is under control thanks to a wonderful family doctor ( and best friend) and a wonderful allergy/asthma doctor.
9. I am thankful that Troy was asked to go with his football officiating crew to Austin today to officiate a Texas Longhorns practice/scrimmage. ( I know that this does not seem like a big deal to most of you, but Troy is so pumped and I love seeing him so happy) Officiating football is one of his favorite hobbies and it also helps that he gets paid in the process.
10. And last but not least, I am thankful for my wonderful husband who would do anything in the world for his family. I am thankful that he works hard to provide for us, I am thankful that even though he walks in at 5:00 and he is tired, he make time to play catch, play hockey, wrestle, ride bikes, play football, etc, etc, etc and after all of that he still makes time to help me tuck the kids in bed.


Well...there you have it...My 10 things. Better late than never. I am thankful for all of you, too!

The Great Wolf Lodge

We had quite a fun weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine this weekend. We went with some friends and the kids just had a blast. If you don't know about the Great Wolf, it is a hotel with an indoor water park. It is completely geared to the kids, but the adults had a blast, too. It was pretty nice to not have to worry about rain, sunscreen, etc. The kids also had a blast in the arcade, at the restaurants, and going on a Quest to find hidden treasures throughout the hotel with their special wands.

Lexi had a blast staying in Breckenridge with Tom Tom, KK, Aunt Casey, and all of her cousins. I would have been way too nervous taking Lexi to the water park. She is a little too much of a dare devil right now. I don't think she missed us too much, though, because she was ready to go back to Breckenridge today to visit her cousins who are in for Spring Break. There are 8 kids over at Tom Tom and KK's today so they might need a few prayers! :)

Happy 2nd Birthday Alexis Ann!

Happy Birthday sweet Lexi! I cannot believe that you are already 2 years old! Wow how time flies! There are so many things that I want to tell you today, but there is just not enough time or room.

I love the way that you yell "Momma" as loud as you can until I get you out of bed.

I love the way you give your Daddy kisses in the morning all over his face before he leaves for work. You will almost be finished and say "one mo" and of course your Daddy loves to get one more kiss.

I love the way that we cuddle in bed in the mornings and watch Praise Baby.

I love the way that you will not go to sleep at night until we sing all of your favorite songs with all of the hand motions and the way that you bow your head and fold your hands when you are ready to pray. (And yell AMEN as loud as you possibly can!) I also love the way that you yell "Bubba!" when you are waiting for your big brother to come tuck you in, kiss you, and put the covers over you.

I love the way you say "shhhhh" with your finger in front of your mouth when someone is still asleep in our house, but slam all of the doors in the mean time. :)

I love the way you say "Kom Kom and Ka Ka" for Tom Tom and KK, the way that you say Grana and D Daddy in your own language and the way that you say "Unc" for Uncle Shane.

I love the way that you think you are just as big as your big brother and everyone else at school.

Some favorite memories of this past year:
When your school teachers comment on the fact that you must have a big brother at home because you like to tackle and wrestle in class.

When we had a plumber over to the house twice and once the water damage people over to fix the problem of your fetish of flushing things down the toilet. (At least we can laugh now!)

When you always hide in the cabinets, pantry, or closets, but give yourself away when you yell "Where's Lexi?"

When I found you in 30 degree weather with just your diaper on after escaping from the doggie door. (One of the scariest moments of my life, but at least now I can laugh about it)

And just recently when we tried for 2 hours to get your picture taken and you were so mad the whole time, but as soon as we got home you smiled and said "Cheese!"

Trip to the Emergency Room

Well, we have had a pretty eventful last couple of days. Yesterday we went to the Charity Ball and it was kind of fun....Kind of like an adult prom. I do have to say that people were laughing at me because I did not have my dress up until the last minute and I had my Mom just grab me one when she went to Fort Worth. She was a little nervous about getting me a dress without me picking out the style or not being there to try it on. She did a great job, though, and I was so glad to not have to shop for a dress. I didn't have any shoes up until about 2 days ago and I just had a friend grab me some shoes at Target and they fit perfectly! Anyhow, it was kind of hard to go last night since Easton was feeling pretty yucky. He has had fever for a few days and has just felt crummy. He ended up having a rough night and we made a trip to the e.r. this morning. Easton did very well with getting the blood taken, getting swabbed for Strep and the Flu. He had a little harder of a time when they gave him the Rosephin (sp?) shot. His white blood cell count was pretty high so that made us know that he had some kind of infection. The doctor finally concluded that it must just be a nasty sinus infection. Hopefully the shot and antibiotics will kick in and will get Easton on the road to recovery. We have to get him well for t-ball! Luckily it was not the flu!

Lexi is turning 2 this week. Wow! I cannot believe how fast time flies! It seems like she was just born yesterday. She keeps us laughing and certainly always on our toes! I will post pics of her birthday probably next week. Have a great new week!
